Carolyn has lived in Charlottesville since 1986 and practiced commercial Real Estate brokerage for the past 14 years. Prior to entering the real estate field, she served on the board of the Charlottesville-Albemarle SPCA and spear headed the capital campaign for the multi-million dollar facility plus served as it's Executive Director.
She presently serves on the boards of the ACPD Foundation and the North Charlottesville Business Council.
Carolyn graduated from Emory University with a BSN and has two grown sons and three grandchildren and lives with her veterinarian husband in Earlysville, VA.
David Hilliard
David Hilliard is a native of Charlottesville, Virginia. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Washington College in Chestertown, Maryland. He also earned an accreditation from The Erickson School of Aging for Management and Operations of Senior Housing and Care.
He began his professional career on Wall Street on the investment side in Institutional Sales/Equities with Donaldson Lufkin Jenrette and was also a Managing Director at Wachovia Bank. In 2000, he began working in the healthcare industry as an Investor/Advisor for Shelburne Bay Senior Living in Shelburne, Vermont. Mr. Hilliard, in conjunction with a local partner, founded The Lodge at Otter Creek in 2006. The Lodge at Otter Creek is located in Middlebury, Vermont and is a similar community to The Lodge at Old Trail. In 2007, Mr. Hilliard founded Piedmont Senior Living for the purpose of developing The Lodge at Old Trail, which opened in May of 2012. The Lodge at Old Trail offers independent living, assisted living, and memory care.
Matt Hodges
Matt Hodges has been a mortgage lender for over 18 years in Charlottesville and his family have been living in our community since 1993. Matt and his wife Theresa both graduated from University of Virginia in the late 1980s and are now raising a 12 year old daughter here.
Matt is the course and obstacle designer for the annual Guardian's Gauntlet obstacle course race, benefiting ACPF. Matt currently serves on Economic and Government Affairs Committee at the Chamber of Commerce. Previously, Matt served on Government Affairs at the Charlottesville Area Association of Realtors was well as Chairing their RPAC for a total of four years. Matt has also served on the Board of the Shelter for Help in Emergency.
Outside of working hours, he works out at IronWolf Training and runs as many Spartan Races as his wife will allow.
Catherine Hughes, Secretary
SENTARA MARTHA JEFFERSON HOSPITAL
Catherine is the Executive Director of Support Services at Sentara Martha Jefferson Hospital where she has been employed since 2004. Her areas of oversight include the Outpatient Surgery Center, Patient Satisfaction, Food Service, Housekeeping, Maintenance, Volunteer and Guest Services, Transportation, and Retail Services.
She is married with two daughters and lives outside of town in the Blue Ridge Mountains where she enjoys spending as much time outside as possible. Catherine joined the Foundation Board in 2014 and truly enjoys working to support our brave men and women of the ACPD.
Brian Johnson
Woods Rogers PLC
Brian Johnson is an attorney in the Charlottesville office of Woods Rogers PLC. He handles a wide variety of commercial real estate matters for his clients. In addition to his real estate practice, he focuses on assisting startups, entrepreneurs, and privately-held companies with their transactional needs, including mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures and capital raises.
Brian is on the advisory board of the Salvation Army of Charlottesville and a board member for the nonprofit Charlottesville Tom Sox, a summer league for collegiate players.
Valerie Long
WILLIAMS MULLEN
Valerie is a local real estate and land use attorney with Williams Mullen and chairs the firm’s Land Use practice group. She helps landowners with commercial real estate transactions and regularly guides clients through the intricacies of obtaining local government land use approvals for a wide variety of projects. Valerie has a BA in political economy from Tulane University, and a JD from the University of Virginia School of Law. She is a past chairman of the board of the Charlottesville Regional Chamber of Commerce and served for many years on the board of United Way Thomas Jefferson Area. Valerie joined the ACPD Foundation in 2015, lives in Crozet with her husband and two sons, and is an avid runner.
Andy McGinty
Castle Development Partners
Andy joined the ACPD Foundation in 2013, and heads the Officer Housing initiative. He is a Principal in Castle Development Partners, a multifamily real estate development firm, where he manages the acquisition and development of apartment communities throughout the Mid-Atlantic. Prior to joining Castle, Andy was an executive with the management consulting firm Accenture, based in Washington, DC and Paris, France. Andy has an MBA from The University of Virginia Darden School of Business and a BS in Mechanical Engineering from Virginia Tech. He lives in Charlottesville with his wife and three children and enjoys golf, skiing, hunting, coaching wrestling and baseball, and is an avid Crossfit athlete.
Emma Palmerton
Opia Labs
Emma is a graduate of the William & Mary Mason School of Business where she studied Marketing and Entrepreneurship. She is currently the VP of Business Strategy & Development at Opia Labs, a Charlottesville-based software development and consulting firm. Outside of work, she is an avid crossfitter, wife to Charlottesville native Bryan Stinnie, and new mother to a beautiful baby boy, Makai. Emma joined the ACPD Foundation in 2017.
Kyle Redinger
Kyle Redinger is a double Hoo (McIntire 2005, Darden 2013), an Eagle Scout, and a serial entrepreneur in the central Virginia area. He has founded CrossFit Charlottesville, the SuperFit Games, and VividCortex. He is currently incubating several startups and working in the real estate development industry. Having grown up and attended Albemarle County public schools, Kyle enjoys the beautiful scenery, high quality of life and the unique character that central Virginia offers. Kyle joined the ACPD Foundation in 2016.
Mike Terry

Albemarle native, Michael (Mike) Terry, is a Realtor with Nest Realty in Charlottesville, VA. Mike holds a Bachelor of Science from Radford University and a Master of Education from UVA’s Curry School. Prior to transitioning to real estate, Mike served as a professional development officer with Habitat for Humanity for three years, as well as UVA’s School of Medicine for six years.
Mike was drawn to the mission of the ACPD Foundation in part due to his love of Albemarle County, but he also serves to honor his cousin, a 35-year veteran of the Virginia State Police. Over the years, Mike has served with various local non-profits; Ducks Unlimited, SOCA, and most recently the board of UVA’s Madison House. Mike and his wife, Laura, are raising three sons in Ivy.

Lloyd F. Wood, Jr., “LF”
Lloyd F. Wood, Jr., “LF”, 82, died on October 11, 2018 surrounded by his wife, Patsy, of 60 years, and his family. He was born in Earlysville, Va., graduated from Lane High School, Mars Hill College, and the University of Richmond.
LF, often known as "Mr. Putt-Putt", owned and operated the Putt-Putt Golf Course for 58 years. He had various businesses over the years. He served on the Board of Supervisors for Albemarle County from 1968 to 1975, and was recent Chairman for the Board of Zoning Appeals. His favorite charity service was with the Seminole Volunteer Fire Department as Board Chairman and the Albemarle County Police Foundation. He received the 2012 Chamber of Commerce Volunteer of the Year Award. He served many years as Chief Election Officer.
LF loved his family and community. He was truly generous with giving of himself.
